Ka pō, ka ao, ka awatea
“Ka pō, ka au, ka awatea” (From within the darkness to a new dawn) a whakataukī referring to the dawn of creation, from Te Pō (darkness) into the world of Te Ao (light). This can also describe a transformational journey toward understanding and enlightenment. In this case it is in the context of our place in nature and hope for the planet, should we take the necessary action now to bring us from these dark times into a new dawn.
Kawakawa:
Ko au ko te taiao, ko te taiao ko au
Ko au ko te taiao, ko te taiao ko au
A whakataukī describing being in harmony with our natural environment: “I am nature, nature is me”. Expressed as a Kawakawa leaf, a significant source of rongoā, for our health and the health of the land.
